WHAT WE WANT (Position Overview)
The DevOps and Systems Manager leads and drives both DevOps practices and systems operations across the organization, supporting internal business systems and global customer-facing websites. This role combines technical leadership with team management to drive operational excellence, ensure scalability, and promote innovation in our software delivery and infrastructure practices.
WHAT YOU WILL DO (Primary Responsibilities)
Team and Process Management
The DevOps and Systems Manager provides strategic direction and oversight through:
- Managing both DevOps contractors and infrastructure team members, including workload distribution, project assignments, and career development
- Coordinating with development teams to implement DevOps methodologies and infrastructure best practices
- Establishing performance metrics and conducting regular evaluations of team deliverables
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation and knowledge sharing processes
- Leading incident post-mortems and driving continuous improvements across all operational areas
Technical Operations Management
Oversee critical operations, including:
- Architecting and maintaining Linux infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, including GitLab platform management
- Managing container orchestration and Kubernetes operations at scale
- Implementing and maintaining infrastructure as code and configuration management through tools like Puppet
- Overseeing system provisioning, infrastructure automation, and build tool optimization
- Managing PKI infrastructure, certificate lifecycles, and DNS architecture across all environments
- Administering storage infrastructure and NFS solutions
- Implementing observability solutions and monitoring frameworks
- Developing and maintaining robust testing and deployment frameworks
Strategic Planning and Innovation
Drive DevOps advancement and operational efficiency through:
- Developing and executing integrated DevOps roadmaps aligned with business objectives
- Evaluating and implementing new technologies to enhance delivery and infrastructure capabilities
- Establishing and maintaining KPIs for deployment and operational performance
- Creating and maintaining disaster recovery, business continuity, and rollback procedures
- Optimizing development and operational workflows for efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness
- Collaborating with development teams to identify and implement process improvements
Security and Compliance
Ensure robust security measures and compliance standards by:
- Implementing and maintaining secure CI/CD practices and infrastructure practices
- Overseeing security scanning and testing integration
- Managing comprehensive incident response procedures
- Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards
- Conducting regular security audits and assessments across all systems
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE (Qualifications)
Education And Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 7+ years of combined DevOps and infrastructure experience
- 3+ years of technical team management experience
- Demonstrated expertise in both DevOps practices and system architecture
Technical Skills
- Advanced knowledge of Linux systems and DevOps methodologies
- Strong experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code, scripting, and automation
- Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies
- Experience with monitoring, observability platforms, and high-performance storage systems
- Expertise in networking, DNS architecture, and GitLab administration
- Substantial experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Leadership Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Proven track record of leading technical initiatives across multiple teams
- Experience managing incident response and escalations
- Ability to balance strategic planning with tactical execution
- Demonstrated success in influence and driving adoption of technical practices
Working Conditions
- Full-time position
- Remote work position with occasional travel required
- Participation in on-call rotation and emergency response required
- Evening and weekend work may be necessary for system maintenance and incident response
WHAT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Proficient in all Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
